Dear citizen,

The new waste collection method arrives in the Fourth District. After the Fifth District in November 2025, the Sixth in March 2025 and the Seventh, started back in 2020 with a group of about 20,000 Verona users, the change now concerns not only the neighborhoods in the area that still have open containers but also the zones where the door-to-door collection service is already active, with a view to standardizing the territory under a single waste disposal system.

Everything that is useful to know is detailed in this booklet, which I invite you to read by immediately identifying your residential area among the colored zones, in order to better grasp the specific information for each neighborhood. In summary, the current open containers will gradual-
ly be replaced by new controlled-access containers, larger and suitable for receiving the type of waste for which they are intended. Openable via card or application, they will receive organic waste and residual dry waste. The collection of plastic/metals and paper will instead take place door to door. For those who are already used to separating waste in this way, the changes are minimal but still substantial: controlled-access containers for organic and residual waste will arrive and the door-to-door collection for paper and plastic/ metals will continue according to the calendar specified on the following pages.

The change in waste disposal will involve approximately 200,000 residents over the next two years. An epochal and at the same time necessary challenge that aims to remove Verona’s “black jersey” in Veneto in waste management. The percentage of separate waste collection in the city has jumped from a long-standing 53% (the average separate collection of the last 10 years) to 57.4% in 2024, the latest consolidated official data. A result that allows us to look optimistically at the ongoing change, but which at the same time makes it clear how much work still needs
to be done. The percentage of separate collection in areas where containers are still open does not exceed 40%. Moreover, in light of the new tariff system introduced by the Region, separate collection percentages below 65% are penalizing not only from an environmental perspective but also from an economic one: reaching this threshold is therefore a fundamental step

that will also allow more resources to be freed up and allocated to neighborhood cleanliness, to the benefit of the entire territory.

Returning to the details of the combined system, the new containers can be opened via a card issued free of charge and the Amia app. Thanks to an update of the software used by AMIA for service management, it is possible to obtain one’s credentials via mobile phone in just a few simple steps, without going to the offices. The “AMIA Verona” app can be downloaded as usual from the official stores (App Store or Google Play Sto-
re) and, upon first access, it will ask you to enter the username, consisting of your taxpayer code and user code, and the password, which corresponds to your tax code (details on page 4). Easier done than said. The invitation, therefore, is to download the application immediately as it is a very useful and practical tool not only to unlock the containers for disposing of your waste but also to send reports and receive real-time updates and service news. The other complementary method for opening the new containers is via the card, distributed at the eco-counters (page 14).

The change has therefore begun and now let’s shift gears: it is up to all of us to make the difference. Literally. Activating a large-scale change like this is not easy, but it is a challenge we face with determination, convinced of the importance of a clear and decisive change of pace in favor of the environment and citizen services. To each of us, first and foremost the company but also every single person, the burden and the honor of doing our part: implementing services on the one hand, modifying small daily habits on the other. In the following pages, alongside information on how
to correctly separate waste, you will also find useful advice for reducing the use of natural resources in our daily activities: from consuming local and seasonal products to shopping with less environmental impact.

I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR JOINING
A PATH TO BE TAKEN TOGETHER,
TOWARDS GREATER RESPECT FOR THE
ENVIRONMENT.
